Testimonials

When God was creating the world he took his time when he came to creating the Applecross Peninsula and Callakille Cottage. This place is just heaven. A week watching glorious sunsets in quiet, isolated splendour - the perfect antidote to a fast moving, high tech world. The Cottage is kitted out perfectly. A cosy log fire, comfy chairs, a cosy kitchen, a fantastic bath, and beds you want to stay in. Of course, you don't, as just outside are walks, bike rides and views that must be seen and explored. The only downside is...finding the time to go back (which I will, somehow).

"And the cares of tomorrow can wait 'till this day is done". And we were really far away from all sorrows and trouble, only surrounded by the Atlantic Sea, the Highlands cattles and many many sheep. We felt like in a wonderful dream. The cottage has such stunning views, is so tastefully furnished, a real sanctuary! Best regards from Germany, Heinke & Axel.

Still overwhelmed by the beauty of the cottage and the surrounding. Amazing views over the Minch to Raasay and Skye. Could spend the rest of all days on earth just sitting on the bench outside - I literally stopped breathing there. And the rest of all days in universe I'd spend in that fantastic bathroom with it's beautiful Victorian bath tub! Stunning place, romantic couples would love it, too - I was completely on my own and did not miss a thing - but now I do... I miss Callakille.

Callakille was everything we thought it would be. Set up high on a windswept hill overlooking the sea. Beautiful views from the front and back of the cottage, and we were lucky that we had good weather so we were able to get out each day and explore. The interior was tastefully decorated and furnished with a fully equipped kitchen. Most of all we really enjoyed the peace, quiet and seclusion of the cottage. We will return.

It is getting harder and harder to leave this wonderful place on the Applecross peninsular. Staying at Callakille is the highlight of our year. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for such a memorable holiday in your beautiful cottage - so well organised, clean and comfortable. It is in the most amazing location surrounded by nature - wonderful sightings of eagles on the fence posts and sea otters playing on the rocks on the beach below, deer and a cheeky pine marten at the Walled Garden, not forgetting the sheep, highland cattle, sounds of the sea and natural arch down from the cottage. We had wonderful walks along the coast, the rivers, lochs and mountains all made extra special by the most amazing week of sunshine! Fantastic food at the Walled Garden and fish and chips from the Innside Out, the two grocery stores and the most delicious smoked salmon pate, hot smoked salmon and dill mustard sauce from Torridon Smokehouse in Shieldaig. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything you could need, so home cooked food and picnics are easy too - even scales, so pancakes for breakfast and scones for afternoon tea went down a treat! We stocked up on some food before arriving and bought locally for other items which worked out perfectly. After a long day of walking and exploring, relaxed tired muscles in the magnificent bath with an enviable view, cups of tea on the bench in the garden and spectacular evening sunset viewings! What a week! It has been fantastic! An absolutely perfect, long awaited holiday and a place we will certainly return to.
